SHANE'O, THE AUSSIE DRIVER, JOINS SIR RICHARD BRANSON IN THE FAST LANE

The Aussie driver they call Shane’O, aka Shane Strong, has just experienced the ride of his life thanks to Virgin Car Insurance.

Shane’O won a competition launched by Virgin Car Insurance last month, which called on Aussies to argue in a 60-second video, why they were country’s best driver.  As the winner of the ‘ Driving Sir Richard’ promotion, Shane’O has spent the last 24 hours driving Sir Richard around Sydney and enjoying the lifestyle of one of the world’s most famous business tycoons. 

It all began when he flew to Singapore on the weekend to join Sir Richard at the world’s only night-time Grand Prix.  There he was able to pick up some last minute driving tips from some of the world’s best drivers in preparation for his duties as Sir Richard’s personal driver in Sydney this week.

So how did Shane’O find the experience of the fast pace lifestyle of a billionaire entrepreneur?

“It’s certainly been a crazy, unbelievable ride and at times I had to stop and ask myself if I was really doing this,” he said.

And on meeting the man himself?

“Sir Richard was great – friendly, genuine and down-to-earth.  He joked that if my driving skills impressed him, I might get a call up for his F1 racing team!”  Shane’O said.

Personally selected by Sir Richard, the three videos from Shane’O were a big hit with the Virgin founder who said he was a clear winner from the hundreds of job applicants.

“Shane’O was exactly the person I was looking for – a great sense of humour, loves an adventure and frankly looked like someone who is ‘good value’, just like our new Virgin Car Insurance,” Sir Richard said.
