Call us crazy, but we love to dig into numbers.
They tell us stories, reveal new ideas, and reveal a deeper understanding of what makes Virgin Money customers tick.
During one of our data digs, we uncovered insights into the way our credit card customers spent on their card from 2011 to 2014.
Here are some of the exciting things we uncovered.
People of leisure
Almost one-quarter of spend (23%) goes towards categories relating to leisure activities such as holidays, restaurants and entertainment.
Virgin Money credit card customers seem to enjoy relaxing and unwinding!
Virgin Money credit card customers also seem to love shopping.
Retail store transactions made up 13% of total spend – equal first – and it also accounted for 20% of all transactions – outright first – on a Virgin Money credit card.
How is spend changing?
We found a couple of interesting spend trends too.
While inflation (the cost of goods) grew by a total of 6.85% over the 4 years, the average transaction amount on a Virgin Money credit card increased by 23%.
This could indicate that Virgin Money credit cards are being used for bigger, more significant purchases.
Holiday spend is also on the rise, with the average amount spent in the ‘holiday’ category increasing by 30%.
