To active 8 points per purchase, direct debit and BPAY payment on your Virgin Money Go Account, plus bonus interest on your Virgin Money Boost Saver, you need to meet the Monthly Criteria in the previous month. Here’s what you need to do each month:

18 – 24 years
Deposit $1,000 or more from another financial institution (such as your salary) into your Virgin Money Go Account and make at least 5 purchases, direct debits or BPAY payments which settle in that month (not pending). Ready? Go.
Over 25 years
Deposit $2,000 or more from another financial institution (such as your salary) into your Virgin Money Go Account and make at least 5 purchases, direct debits or BPAY payments which settle in that month (not pending). Let’s go!

The Monthly Criteria vary by age and includes a minimum deposit and minimum number of transactions each month that must be made into a Virgin Money Go Account that is issued in the same name. For clarity, if you hold an account(s) in your name as an individual, and an account(s) in two names (joint account), you will be required to meet the Monthly Criteria on each account type (individual and joint) to activate the benefits for both.
  • Virgin Money Rewards Points for Joint Accounts will be split and evenly allocated to both joint account holders of that account.

  • Q. What does it mean when I see the Visa secure badge when I’m shopping online?

    Visa has developed a program that helps confirm your identity when you make an online purchase. This service is aimed to make shopping online more secure by protecting against unauthorised use of your Visa card. There’s no need to download anything, install software or register. During an online purchase from your desktop, mobile or other digital device, you may be guided through an extra check to verify your identity. This helps your issuer ensure you’re you and better protects you from fraud.

  • Q. Do I have to download the app in order to apply for my account?

    In short: yes and no. You can apply for an account through either the Virgin Money mobile app or our website. But you’ll need to download the app to manage your account.

The app is designed for amazingly simple banking, so you can manage your money easily and securely, wherever you are and whenever you want. Give it a try!   • Q. Can I get a Virgin Money Go Account without a Virgin Money Boost Saver?

    The Go Account and the Boost Saver are a perfect pair and come bundled when you open a new Go Account. You can get points on your everyday transaction account as well as a high interest savings account (when you meet the Monthly Criteria). We’ve put them together to help you create better money habits and have some fun while you do.  

    That said, if you are an existing Virgin Money customer who already holds a credit card or a Virgin Money Grow Saver, then yes, you can take out just a Go Account through the app.

  • Q. When will I get my card?

    Give it about 5-7 days for your new Virgin Money Go Account card to arrive at your door. But please, don’t wait on us! You can add your Go Account to Google Pay, Samsung Pay, or Apple Pay, via the app, to get started right away.

  • Q. How do I add my Virgin Money Go Account card to my digital wallet?

    Easy as. Just head to the ‘Profile’ section of the mobile app then, ‘Manage Cards’ and select ‘Go Account’. Select your preferred digital payment option, follow the steps, then you’re good to go.

  • Q. Are there any differences in how I use my new card?

    For the most part, your new Virgin Money debit card will work in the same way as any other debit card. You can use Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Google Pay, withdraw cash at ATMs, and of course, you can also just tap your card. If you ever need to swipe or insert your card, you’ll need to press 'credit' to make sure it goes through. If you press cheque or savings, it may not work. Don’t worry though, ‘credit’ doesn’t mean we’ll be extending you any credit. It’s just how that particular EFTPOS machine works.

    If you need to take out physical cash from your account, you’ll need to do this at an ATM. You won’t be able to get cash out from places like a supermarket or petrol station.

  • Q. How long does it take to receive my 8 points per purchase into my Virgin Money Go Account?

    Not long at all, You'll get your points normally within 24 hours after the purchase has settled (AKA no longer ‘pending’) in your account.. It’s the same deal if you’re making your 5 purchases to meet the Monthly Criteria to activate your monthly benefits. Your purchases will need to settle in your account that month before your reward is activated for the next month.
