Can I still use my Virgin Money credit card?

Yes. You can still use your Virgin Money credit card as usual.

You will still earn Velocity Frequent Flyer Points on your Virgin Money rewards credit cards.

Velocity has informed its members that a Velocity trustee is in place to look after the interests of Velocity members. You can find out more on the Velocity Frequent Flyer website.

We are working very closely with Virgin Australia and Velocity. As they provide updates to us on any impacts, changes or next steps for Velocity Frequent Flyer members or regarding Virgin Money credit cards, it will be our priority to make this information available to you.

What will happen with the flight benefits attached to my credit card, like flight gift vouchers and lounge passes?

As more news about Virgin Australia becomes available, it’s our priority to keep you updated about the Virgin Australia related flight benefits on your Virgin Australia Velocity Card.

After a temporary pause, we’re pleased to let you know eligible customers are now able to redeem the annual $129 Virgin Australia Gift Voucher benefit attached to their card.

Virgin Australia has implemented a new process for issuing the $129 Virgin Australia Gift Vouchers. Under this new process, from 08 July 2020 all Virgin Australia Gift Vouchers requested will be provided in the form of a $129 credit in a Virgin Australia Travel Bank account.

Although the way you receive the benefit has changed, you’re still able to use the $129 travel credit towards booking Virgin Australia flights or selected Virgin Australia Holiday packages.

For Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer cardholders, we are pleased to advise that any Lounge passes that expired after 1 March 2020, or are due to expire in 2020, have been extended to 31 December 2020.

Important update

With widespread travel restrictions in place and Virgin Australia currently working through voluntary administration, Virgin Money has removed Velocity Points from all new home loans from 25 May 2020. 

Are there any changes for my existing Virgin Money Home Loan?

Our home loan customers continue to receive great value, competitive interest rates, all the important features our home loan customers value most plus fantastic Virgin Money service. You will continue to receive Velocity Points, a range of exclusive offers on other Virgin Money products and access to fantastic offers and experiences from other Virgin family businesses in Australia, which are updated from time to time.

We are working very closely with Virgin Australia and Velocity. As they provide more information to us on any impacts, changes or next steps for Velocity Frequent Flyer members or regarding the Points available on our home loans, it will be our priority to make this information available to you.

I applied before 25 May 2020. Do I still receive Velocity Points?

If you applied prior to 25 May 2020 and your home loan settles by 31 August 2020, you will still earn Velocity Points upfront, ongoing and on anniversaries.

What does this mean for my Velocity Points?

Although Velocity is owned by the Virgin Australia Group, it is a separate company and it is not in administration. While Velocity Frequent Flyer has made some temporary program changes, customers can still book for Virgin Australia domestic flying for travel from 1 September 2020. Velocity is still operating and you’re still able to earn and redeem Velocity Points.  Find out more.

What will happen with the Velocity Points I have earnt on Virgin Money products?

Any Points that you have earned on Virgin Money credit cards, home loans, insurances or super are still in your account. Velocity have put a temporary pause on your ability to redeem those Points. Find out more.

What will happen with Velocity Points I earn on Virgin Money products from today?

If you are currently earning Velocity Points on an existing Virgin Money credit card, home loan, insurance or super, you will continue to do so. The pause does not change the earning of Points. The pause is on redemptions only. The Points that are earned during the pause will be treated in the same way as Points earned before the pause.
